Whitney Houston

What is it about some celebrities that draws so much attention when they die?  For instatnce Whitney Houston.  For many years now I hadn't heard much about her other than the terrible stuff on the cover of the tabloids which may or may not be true.  I am always curious why one persons death attracts more media attention than another?  Just a question if you have any thoughts on this matter, please comment.
